LENDIT EUROPE ANNOUNCES UPGRADE CO-FOUNDER AND CEO RENAUD LAPLANCHE AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Upgrade CEO and Former Lending Club CEO to Headline at LendIt Europe 2017 in London on October 9-10, 2017

LendIt, the world’s largest lending and fintech conference series, today announced that Renaud Laplanche, the CEO of Upgrade and former CEO of Lending Club, will join the keynote speaker roster for LendIt Europe 2017.

Renaud Laplanche is a pioneer in the fintech industry. He launched Lending Club in 2006 and led the company to one of the largest US Internet IPOs in 2014. During a decade at the helm of the company, Laplanche built Lending Club into the largest online lending platform in the United States. In his second act Laplanche founded Upgrade last summer, a consumer credit platform that he describes as “online lending 2.0.” Earlier this year Upgrade raised a $60 million Series A – the largest ever Series A for a fintech company in the US.

He will be giving the opening keynote speech on the second day of LendIt Europe where he will be giving an update on Online Lending 2.0 and discussing the US fintech market, where the online lending industry is today and how it fits into the broader fintech sector trends going forward.

LendIt Europe is the largest European event focused on fintech and lending. The two-day conference will feature thought leaders from across fintech discussing the latest trends in online lending, digital banking, fintech regulation, artificial intelligence, blockchain and more as well as LendIt’s popular “PitchIt” startup competition.

Renaud Laplanche, Co-founder & CEO of Upgrade

“I’m excited to bespeaking at the LendIt Europe conference, and exchanging ideas with the technology, business and government leaders in Europe. There continues to be very strong interest in the US market from investors and platforms in Europe and I look forward to sharing our thoughts on where the US market stands today and where we think it’s going.”

Peter Renton, Co-Founder & Chairman of LendIt Conference:

“We are excited to have Renaud speaking at LendIt Europe for the first time. As someone who grew up in Europe but now lives in the USA he brings a unique perspective to our European event. His speeches are always highly anticipated and he is a wonderful addition to our speaker roster this year.”
