LEADING BRAND AGENCY APPOINTS FORMER TRINITY MIRROR BOSS AND ANNOUNCES NEW RECRUITMENT DRIVE
Rewind 15 years and Champions (UK) plc was just an idea in the making in a bedroom in East Leake. Now, fast-forward to present day and that one idea has grown into a hugely successful brand agency that is now not only looking to hire a wave of fresh talent thanks to a period of expansion, but have just appointed a new Group Sales Director.
This week, David Simms became the first non-family member to join the board of Champions (UK) plc. David will head up a brand new sales operation, responsible for driving profitable revenue for the business, which this year was listed in the Grant Thornton Top 200 East Midlands report.
Having previously held the position at Trinity Mirror as regional Managing Director for the East Midlands, David’s background in digital, print and broadcast will prove invaluable once work begins on Champions’ to transform an outbuilding on the premise into a high-tech digital suite.
Speaking about the new appointment, and of the expansion, Managing Director of Champions (UK) plc Matthew Hayes says “I never imagined when we started Champions that we would be where we are today. Every year we continue to grow, and one of the best parts of that growth is we are able to create more opportunities for employment. Branding is an exciting sector to work in, Champions is an exciting place to work, and we are going through a truly exciting period. We are pleased to welcome David Simms to our team, which is opening the door for more driven, creative and talented individuals to follow.”
With expertise in 10 key areas – creative, digital, marketing, PR, media, events, publishing, advertising, celebrity and web, and with an unrivalled track record for delivering results time and time again, the expansion plans will see more than forty jobs created.
Champions currently employs more than 80 members of staff throughout its 10 individual departments, and with new business being won regularly, as Group Sales Director, David will be leading a team who will be able to generate further income across each of the Champions offerings.
Speaking of his new venture with Champions (UK) plc, David said: “I am honoured to be playing a part in this new chapter for Champions and am thrilled to be coming into the company at a time of great growth and expansion. John and Matt are extremely lucky to have such a young and dynamic team on board and with so many creative minds buzzing around the building, and with a constant drive to spread their wings, and knowledge, Champions are extremely relevant in the market. Even greater things are just around the corner for the company.”
David and the Champions team are now actively recruiting business-minded, sales driven applicants to join them, but would also like to hear from any passionate, inspired and bright individuals who think they have something to offer within any of Champions departments.
