IngenicoePayments, the online and mobile commerce division of Ingenico Group, has today announced its partnership with Europe’s top feel good camping specialist, Canvas Holidays.

Canvas-logoFor more than 50 years, Canvas has been providing action-packed family camping trips across Europe with customers traveling from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Holland and Belgium. However, Canvas wanted to grow its customer base further in Europe and picked out IngenicoePayments as the partner most capable of providing localised payment options, tailored to varying payment cultures.

Canvas recognised that customers who are not offered a familiar, secure checkout, in their own currency and language are likely to become frustrated and abandon the transaction. Canvas also wanted to offer customers more alternative channels and payment plans.

In the Netherlands, Canvas’ customers are now able to use the country’s most popular payment method, iDeal and bank transfers have declined sharply. This means that Canvas receives immediate payment, rather than having it deferred via the bank. In Germany and Belgium, Sofort and Mister Cash have also proved to be popular ways for Canvas’ customers to pay.

Over the past four years, Canvas has seen a significant shift toward mobile and tablet shopping and Ingenico has also enabled this channel to grow through full mobile optimisation. Customers can also pay via IngenicoePayments’ flexible recurring payment option, spreading the cost over a number of monthly payments. Ingenico now provides Canvas’ customers with maximum choice for secure payments and they have been making full use of the new options.

Additionally, Canvas benefits from far quicker and more transparent reporting. The company can see exactly what they are paying for on a daily basis, covering every transaction and the cost associated with that transaction.

David Haig, Head of IT, Canvas Holidays said, “Our confidence in IngenicoePayments’ localisation capacities means we have no problem moving into new international markets as and when we think that they’re viable. Our sights are now set on customers across the whole of Northern Europe.”

MichielSchrama, Head of Sales, UK at IngenicoePayments said “Through effective localisation, Canvas offers a payment experience that inspires trust and eliminates the friction caused by working out a new payment system, calculating an exchange rate or translating a foreign language. Canvas is a much-loved family brand and we look forward to helping grow its popularity across the continent.”

Using its consistent, umbrella platform and localised payment offerings, Canvas can aim high, confident in its ability to convert traffic into sales throughout Europe.
