    • Lighthorne in Warwickshire is home to the most modified cars in The UK*
    • 2016’s most modified town, Cannock, remains in the top 10

Euro Car Parts, the UK’s leading distributor of motoring parts, delved into their data to discover which areas of the UK have the most ‘pimped up’ cars.

You may be forgiven for thinking the bigger cities like London and Manchester would take the crown, however residents of Lighthorne, a small town in Warwickshire are officially the most likely to modify their cars in the UK! In fact, the number of car performance parts (576) purchased in the last 12 months outweighed the number of people who live in the town (361).

Just missing out on the top spot were drivers in the Welsh town of Bangor, who also appear to be keen modifiers despite the fact the population is only 13,7251.

The top 10 UK towns and cities for car modification are:

    1. Lighthorne, Warwickshire
    2. Bangor, Wales
    3. Truro, Cornwall
    4. Bridgewater, Somerset
    5. Sale, Trafford, Greater Manchester
    6. Cannock, Staffordshire
    7. King’s Lynn, Norfolk
    8. Birstall, Leeds
    9. Tamworth, Staffordshire
    10. Grimsby, Lincolnshire

The cities which spent the most on car mods (from 1st August 16 – 31st August 17) are:

    1. London (£8,585,360)
    2. Birmingham (£827,552)
    3. Bristol (£420,406)
    4. Manchester (£399,885)
    5. Leeds (£366,575)
    6. Glasgow (£364,200)
    7. Sheffield (£265,121)
    8. Edinburgh (£264,841)
    9. Northampton ((£221,195)
    10. Coventry (£212,162)

The gender split was as expected, with 91% of performance purchases being made by male customers. However, only 4% of purchases came from 18 to 24 year olds, with those aged between 25 and 34 (33%) buying the most performance car parts.

The top 5 car modifications are:

    1. Wheel trims
    2. Tailored car mats
    3. Performance Oil filter
    4. Performance Air filter
    5. Lens Tint Spray

Martin Gray, CEO at Euro Car Parts said: “It’s great to see the interest of car modification is still going strong, as it can be a time-consuming and quite arduous hobby, but one that has incredibly rewarding results when complete.

“We see requests for a wide range of performance parts, some more unusual than others – the biggest, and most unexpected hit this year, has to be our Streetwize Headlamp eyelashes – weird, wonderful and unique!”

If you’re interested in modifying your car but aren’t sure how to get started, our handy ‘How To’ guide is here to help!http://blog.eurocarparts.com/how-to-pimp-your-ride/
