The Corporate and Commercial department at one of London’s leading law firms Joelson has assisted British start-up AI technology firm Zeelo with its equity raising through InMotion Ventures – the venture capital business powered by Jaguar Land Rover.

Using its expertise, Joelson helped Zeelo raise money through InMotion’s seed programme, which is aimed at finding the next generation of transport technology.

Co-founded by Sam Ryan and Barney Williams – who previously set up taxi sharing app JumpIn that was bought in 2014 by Addison Lee – Zeelo aims to solve the problem of inconvenient, expensive travel between towns and cities and to and from events.

Its private coach hire service uses artificial intelligence to predict demand and identify routes that reduce costs and improve efficiency for customers.

The funding raised with the assistance of Joelson through the sale of shares will now be used to invest further in this new technology and drive growth within the business.

Speaking about the successful fund raising, Phil Hails-Smith, Corporate and Commercial Partner at Joelson said: “We are delighted to be working with Sam and Barney at Zeelo and to continue our association with InMotion to help drive technology in the field of transport.

“Zeelo has a number of innovative ideas, which may one day change the way in which people travel, so I am glad that with our team’s support they have been able to raise the funding they need to take their business to the next step.”

Joelson has a long-established partnership with InMotion, as it was chosen in 2016 as its legal partner in the UK.

Under this arrangement Joelson provides ad-hoc access to high quality legal support to the programme’s ventures, as and when they require it.
