EMV terminal & mPOS manufacturers can use the qualified tool to validate proximity coupling device (PCD) analogue functionality
FIME today announces that its EMV® RF contactless solution is the only EMVCo-qualified test tool available to perform Level 1 PCD analogue testing on contactless terminals or mobile point of sale (mPOS) devices. The communications between the terminal and a contactless card, or near field communication (NFC)-enabled smartphone, can now be validated in line with the EMV Contactless Specifications version 2.5.
The FIME EMV RF Test Bench, incorporating Keysight technology, can be used by manufacturers throughout the development cycle to perform pre-certification testing, ensuring their hardware aligns with the EMV Contactless Specifications for Payment Systems. This saves them time and money long-term by mitigating the risk of failure during the final certification stage. FIME also uses the qualified tool to perform formal approval testing services in all of its international EMVCo-accredited laboratories.
Manufacturers need to achieve a number of mandatory certifications before products can be launched to the market. Qualified tools and accredited test services enable them to do that as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“Our long history and experience in RF testing has allowed us to be the first to qualify our tool and we’re continuing to support our customers with these latest updates. Contactless is taking off around the world and the market is evolving rapidly so the stability of products is more important than ever. We therefore look forward to working at the forefront of this ecosystem and continuing to offer the most advanced test benches,” comments Guillaume Labendzki, Vice President – Marketing at FIME.
The test tool is fully automated, using an automatic positioning robot, to further reduce the timescale of certification projects. FIME’s team of experts provide tailored support services and training on the use of the RF test tool, and on the EMVCo Specifications, to ensure a smooth and successful approval process for contactless terminals.
FIME offers a comprehensive portfolio of EMVCo testing services.
