Access Construction Opportunities in Egypt and Africa – Project Egypt
February 8, 2017 - February 11, 2017
In its 2nd edition this year, Project Egypt 2017 is the optimal platform for international construction professionals to access solid opportunities in Egypt and Africa. Specializing in construction technology, building material and equipment, Project Egypt combines an innovative format of showcasing, exhibiting, and matchmaking. With its dedicated Hosted Buyers Program, the exhibition is a unique opportunity to build partnerships with Egypt and Africa’s private and public entities and establish relations with the industry’s leading players.
In 2016, Project Egypt gathered 135 exhibitors from 12 countries across 5,000 SQM of exhibition space. The four-day show welcomed more than 5,000 visitors including local and international decision-makers and experts from the construction industry.
Hosted Buyers Program
One of Project Egypt’s highly-anticipated features for 2017 and a major highlight of 2016 is the Hosted Buyers Program. The Program is a dedicated B2B Platform that allowed exhibitors at Project Egypt 2016 to meet with 98 selected buyers from 17 countries (83% of which were from Africa). The Hosted Buyers Program allows exhibitors to get acquainted with the latest products and trends, negotiate and conclude contracts, in addition to signing agency and distribution agreements.
Egypt is the Gateway to Africa
The launch of the Tripartite Free Trade Area from Egypt in 2015 is a sign of a renewed bilateral relation between Egypt and Africa: Egypt is the entryway to Africa, and Africa is the new pathway for economic growth. Building on its historically strong social, economic, and political ties with its African partners, the Egyptian government is currently reinforcing its trade relations with Africa, reaching USD 3.8 billion of exports in 2014.
Africa is in the midst of a construction wave as construction companies compete with international players to increase their order books. According to Deloitte, just over USD 222 billion is being invested in 322 African projects (with a value of at least USD 50 million each). Key investment sectors include: energy and power, transport, mining, water, oil and gas and real estate, especially as demographics spur demand.
