Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation’s Golf Invitational Raises Over $158,000 for Local Charities

On Monday, June 11th, the Affinity Federal Credit Union (AFCU) Foundation hosted its 21st Annual Golf Invitational, raising more than $158,000 for charities across New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Held at Stanton Ridge Golf Club, 120 golfers participated this year.

“We are extremely grateful to the sponsors and attendees of our annual invitational. Through their support, our Foundation provides grants to local charities, financial education outreach to the underserved, and scholarships,” said Catherine Ricker, Executive Director. “We are also grateful for our dedicated employees who volunteer to make this event a huge success.”

The generosity of the event’s donors enables the ongoing charitable programs of the AFCU Foundation. Recipients include the Adult Day Center of Somerset County (Bridgewater, NJ), America’s Grow-a-Row (Pittstown, NJ), Community Hope (Parsippany, NJ), Cornerstone Family Programs and Morristown Neighborhood House (Morristown, NJ), Helping Hands (Spring Valley, NY), the Midland Foundation (Branchburg, NJ), and Norwalk Grassroots Tennis and Education (Norwalk, CT), among others.

The AFCU Foundation’s commitment to improving the financial lives of local communities is exemplified through free financial wellness offerings. In 2017, AFCU offered 200 financial education events to more than 2,000 attendees.

Funds raised from the golf invitational support the AFCU Foundation’s annual scholarship program, which recently announced ten new recipients. The program provides scholarships of $1,000 each to student members through the Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit, Richard A. Romano Rutgers, and Affinity Continuing Education Scholarships.
