Philanthropic Finance Professionals Will Rock Out in Support of ALTSO’s Vital Work Helping Disabled Children in Developing Market Countries
Children’s charity A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO) has become a favorite charity for thousands of members of the alternative assets and finance communities – especially in New York and Chicago. Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest, the annual fundraiser in New York, will celebrate its 13th anniversary on Thursday, October 27 at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, NYC. ALTSO will also be hosting its 5th anniversary of Rocktoberfest – Chicago on Thursday, October 6, at City Winery on W Randolph Street in Chicago.
Industry professionals will perform rock and roll and acoustic music to raise money for ALTSO, which provides prosthetic limbs and corrective, life-altering surgeries to children with limb disabilities in emerging market countries. The average cost of a below knee prosthetic limb is $250 in the countries ALTSO works in, making each $200 Chicago ticket and $275 New York ticket nearly equivalent to a life-changing treatment for an ALTSO patient. Due in large part to Rocktoberfest events, ALTSO has treated more than 15,000 children to-date.
“Intercontinental Exchange is always thrilled to be one of the top sponsors of ALTSO’s Rocktoberfest events in both Chicago and New York each year,” said Tom Hammond, President, ICE Clear U.S. “We are proud to share that our continued sponsorship since 2009 has helped to provide treatment to more than 400 of ALTSO’s children and we look forward to treating more.”
Other sponsors include ABN Amro, ADM Investor Services, Asset Inventories, Back In The Game Therapy, BNP Paribas, Broadridge, CBOE, CME Group, Cortland Capital, Cowen Prime Services, Credit Suisse, Eurex, GlobeTax, Jacobs Asset Management, Lyxor Asset Management, MKP Capital, NASDAQ, OCC, Quanteam, Sandler Capital, SociétéGénérale, Talan LLC, Wedbush, Wells Fargo, and more.
“As a first time sponsor of Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest, Wedbush is excited to be joining the ALTSO team both as a sponsor and up on stage,” said Kirsten Fraunces, Co-Head of Equities at Wedbush, who is sponsoring new Rocktoberfest main stage act, The Autopilots. “We can’t wait for a night of awesome music with our industry friends to help ALTSO treat even more children in 2017.”
The net proceeds raised at the events will benefit ALTSO’s programs in Asia, Africa and Latin America. For more information on the charity or events, visit ALTSO’s website at altso.org.
