France's consumer inflation was stable at 0.9% y/y in March, as expected. INSEE confirms the EU-harmonised rate, marking a drop below 1% for the first time in four years.
(Reuters) - Consumer price inflation in France was stable in March, in line with analysts' expectations and the preliminary reading, statistics office INSEE said on Tuesday.
France's harmonized inflation rate, adjusted for comparison with other euro zone countries, was 0.9% year-on-year in March, INSEE said.
Analysts in a Reuters poll had on average expected the same figure for EU-harmonised inflation in March.
Last month, INSEE reported French inflation dropped below 1% for the first time in four years in February.

The main topic is the stability of French consumer inflation at 0.9% year-on-year in March, as reported by INSEE.
Analysts expected the French EU-harmonised inflation rate to be 0.9% in March, which matched the reported figure.
The March inflation rate is significant because it marks the first time in four years that French inflation dropped below 1% in February.
