Daimler Truck annual sales drop by 12% weighed by Europe and Asia

(Reuters) - Daimler Truck sales dropped 12% in 2024, dragged down by sharp declines at the Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Trucks Asia units, the world's largest truckmaker said on Tuesday.

It sold 460,409 trucks and buses during the year, and the drop in sales was in line with the company's forecast.

The North American unit posted a 2% annual decline.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales grew 17% year-on-year to 4,035 deliveries.

Last year, Daimler Truck cut its annual outlook and said it would reduce hours for some employees in Germany as a result of weak demand in Europe and Asia.

The group will release the full annual financial report and forecast for 2025 on March 14.
